Inside Arden House B&B in Harrogate.

Number 71 Franklin Road commenced business as a Guest House in 1968. At the time, the telephone directory was a key way of attracting business, which of course would be alphabetical, hence a preference to have something beginning with the letter A. There was also a TV programme called Dr Finlays Casebook, which had a fictional property called Arden House. Hence the derivation of the name. In 1978, number 69 Franklin Road was acquired and the two houses combined into the Arden House that you can see today.

The lounge is a very large bay windowed room at the front of the house, with high ceilings, original plaster coving, a rather ornate ceiling light and a beautiful period effect fire. The lounge also has tables that can seat upto 10 people during the busy breakfast period, and also doubles as a meeting room when required. There are also a couple of comfortable Chesterfield wing chairs, and beautiful period fire that adds warmth during the colder months.

The Breakfast room is a large bay windowed room at the front of the house, with high ceilings, original plaster coving and a large moulded plaster ceiling rose sporting a rather stunning chandelier. Beyond the large bay window is our award winning garden. If weather permits, the windows will be open to allow in the fresh smell of the flowers. All in all, this room provides a lovely setting to enjoy the most important meal of the day.
